Fire Flies in Alexandria, Va w/ Big Hillbilly Bluegrass

Here we go again!
The fine folks of Big Hillbilly Bluegrass have found themselves needing a bass man and I’m honored to step up. I heard them play at Madam’s Organ last Wednesday night and wow, I’ve go a lot of work to do to try to keep up with Ira (bassist.) But I’ll do my best to listen and learn as I’m going along.
A little bit about the Bluegrass brunch at Fireflies. Fireflies is a fine eatery on Mt. Vernon Street in the Del Ray section of Alexandria, VA. They server up a fine mess of food and a full bar. On Sundays from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm the raised area in the front window becomes a stage for this fine, fine bluegrass group. It’s 100% acoustic, no amps of any size or type. No P.A. system, the performers jockey back and forth to showcase solos and build harmonies. This is true Americana here folks, and Bob and his group are a singing encyclopedia of bluegrass history.
So, come on down, have a bloody mary and watch me try to keep up with these folks.
Big thanks to Big Hillbilly! Elizabeth, Tad, Jim and Bob.
